James became the new President of the Fire Instructors Association of Texas in January of 2009.   James is a former President, having held that Office from 1992-1994.   James has been a Texas Commission on Fire Protection Certified Fire Fighter for almost 32 years.   He is now is a Full-time Coordinator for the Fire Service Training Center located on the Northwest Campus of Tarrant County College.   Prior to his employment at TCC, James worked for the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department for 26 years, with the last 18 spent at the rank of Captain.   James holds the following Certifications from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection:  Master Fire Fighter, Master Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighter, Fire Service Instructor III Master, Master Fire Investigator, Hazardous Materials Technician, Fire Officer I, Fire Officer II, Basic Inspector I, Basic Inspector II, Plans Examiner and Driver/Operator Pumper.  In addition, he has Certifications as a Fire Ground Safety Officer, Physical Fitness Specialist and in Advanced Critical Incident Stress Management.   He is  actively involved in Community Service in Plano, where he resides with his wife, Carla, who is a Labor and Delivery Charge Nurse at Presbyterian Hospital of Plano.  James is the proud Father of a Daughter, Lindsey, and a Step-Son, Brent.    James has a Degree in Business Administration (B.B.A) from Southern Methodist University and an Associate Degree in Applied Arts and Sciences in Fire Protection Technology from El Centro College.
